About Me

I am an experienced spiritual director, who was trained through Fairfield University’s director formation program. My practice is based on the spiritual insights and exercises developed by St. Ignatius Loyola (Ignatian spirituality).  I live in Charlotte and Asheville, NC.

The foundation of Ignatian spirituality is that God is present and active in the world and in our lives. God seeks a loving, personal relationship with each of us. By learning to live more reflectively we can become better aware of God’s presence. This helps us actively respond to God through gratitude and a greater sense of personal freedom, and thereby live in deeper and more meaningful relationship with God. Having the companionship of a spiritual director can help you become more aware of God’s presence in your life and explore how you might deepen your relationship with God.

Ignatian spirituality has been central in my spiritual journey. I have learned to be more aware of God’s presence and ways in which I can actively respond to that presence. Ignatian reflective prayer practices have helped me make a number of decisions in life, both large and small. For example, those practices helped me discern and act upon a mid-life change in career from practicing law to teaching middle school students. Later, those practices helped me sense and pursue the call to be a spiritual companion for others.

In addition to my spiritual direction practice, I conduct retreats, lead prayer sessions for a contemplative community, participate in a jail ministry and mentor students in a director formation program.  I am a graduate of Mepkin Abbey's Institute for Contemplative Leadership.
