What Is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual direction is a practice of helping spiritual seekers deepen their relationship with God by better noticing God's presence in their lives and responding to that presence.  As your spiritual director, I meet you where you are on your spiritual journey and walk in companionship with you.

Using principles of Ignatian spirituality, I attentively and carefully listen to your experiences and what you notice in your spiritual life so I can help you further discover where and how God may be present to you. We will discuss your desires and objectives, as well as ways to deepen your spiritual awareness. In addition, we might discuss how your spiritual path is leading you to better care for yourself, relate to others or frame the contours of your daily living. Our conversations might involve questions about major choices in life, such as exploring occupations or activities that best align with your gifts and talents, making a career change, transitioning into retired life, or how to best serve the needs of those who are particularly dear to you, such as a spouse or partner, child or aging parent.

Spiritual direction typically involves meeting with me once a month for an hour. Under special circumstances, more frequent meetings might be helpful. I conduct meetings in person or by Zoom, as mutually convenient.
